Resumen
In this project is presented the study and implementation of an indoor position system based on the received signal strength (RSSI) of Xbee devices, Series 2 and Series 2 PRO model, which operate from the ZigBee protocol. The wireless sensor network (WSN) created has a tree topology (Cluster Tree) composed of a coordinator, one or more routers and an end device.
In a test scenario, the mobile device collected information about the received signal strength (RSSI) by relative to the reference points fixed at specific points on the propagation map, characterizing the off-line phase of the technique known as fingerprinting. During the online phase, the signal strength measured by the mobile device are compared to the fingerprintings, stored in the propagation maps obtained during the off-line phase, and processed through the nearest neighbor algorithm (KNN). In the end, the mobile will be closer to the position of the propagation map that has the smallest difference between the measured signal strength and the values stored on the map during the off-line phase in relation to each of the reference points.
