Assistência de enfermagem a pacientes estomizados no Brasil

Abstract

This research aims to describe how it is being done to care for ostomy patients in public health in Brazil, seeking to direct public health managers in policy, allowing the rehabilitation of ostomy. This is a qualitative research approach of exploratory character - kind of descriptive literature review. The bibliographic research was carried out through articles in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), Collection Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Bank of Thesis, University of São Paulo, in addition to printed scientific journals, books, societies and scientific events related to the topic in the period 2005 to 2011, for the survey were used as descriptors: Nursing. Stomal. Public health. Be found 230 papers on the subject 18 being selected in the last six years. The data are presented and analyzed using a qualitative analysis of Minayo of categories. From the review emerged three categories: 1) Quality of life and feelings of ostomy patients, 2) public policy attention to ostomy patients in Brazil 3) Training and nursing care of ostomy patients. It is concluded that the quality of life of ostomy relates to the professional support, interpersonal relationships and adaptations of sexuality. The Brazilian public health policies advanced in ensuring free health care of ostomy patients, although a shortage of skilled professionals, materials and effective support networks, suggesting the need for dialogue between policy makers and professionals in search of mechanisms to ensure full attention to the ostomy patients.
