Resumen
Energy efficiency, when applied in the most diverse equipment and processes, allows a rationalization in the use of energy, aiming with this reduction in the use of resources, operational cost and preservation of the environment. The increase in the use of electric energy, as well as the reduction of its availability, have created the need to search for a better performance of the electrical equipment, in order to reduce the waste of energy and improve the quality of the electric system in general.
An analysis of current conditions in electric motors used in the sewage treatment plant, located in Vila Lorenzi, in the city of Santa Maria - RS, Brazil, is performed and presented. Based on measurements such as voltage, current, electrical power, power factor, rotation and temperature in each motor, a load factor and operating efficiency analysis will be done. Subsequently, the concepts of energy efficiency will be applied, in order to propose feasible alternatives for cost reduction, through economic studies aimed at the best investment to be made.
The objective of the study is the elaboration of a feasible proposal, based on energy efficiency, reduction of consumption and cost of electricity, improvement of the system and maintenance of energy reserves.
