The environmental education (EA) can be worked through the school contents and needs to
be a learning that can motivate the students, going beyond the pedagogical contents, which
enable the exchange of knowledge between teacher and students. The environmental
themes can be used within the school programs, motivating the student to take a more
focused look at the environment and their daily life. Soil is the basis that sustains and
nourishes plants, storing nutrients, water and air due to their porosity and also assists in the
functioning of ecosystems, affects the flow of energy and organic matter. The soil is
responsible for the maintenance of life and is not always treated with the necessary care. In
view of this, this work had as objective to analyze the student's perception on Environmental
Education and Education in Soils. The research developed involved the construction of a
theoretical reference about the topics chosen for the study. Afterwards, the research
instruments were constructed and applied using the format of a questionnaire with open and
closed questions to the students and teachers of the High School of the Rural School (ER)
called João Octávio Nogueira Leiria, which is located in the rural area in the locality of
Toroquá , 2nd District of São Francisco de Assis, RS and the urban school (US) State
Educational Institute Salgado. The results and discussions showed that the students of the
RE presented a more advanced perception and had a more close contact with the soil in
relation to the students of the EU who have quite superficial notions about soil and AS. In QF
it was shown that EU and RE students had a clearer understanding of soil and AS in relation
to IQ. It was therefore clear that extracurricular activities, such as the one proposed in this
paper, helped and sensitized students to have a broader perception of soils and AS in both
the EU and the RE.
