A educação ambiental como variável de estudo no descarte de lâmpadas fluorescentes

The manufacturing of products. Regardless the chosen method produces positive or negative impacts. And the great challenge, at this moment, to the public authorities and the society as a whole, is to present and determinate in a critical way which actions can effectives solve the solid waste matter and, aiming to provide maximum safety for the environment. Unfortunately, most people does not know the consequences of unbridled product consuming. Thus increase the accumulation and inadequate discarding of material, which contributes to pollution and the growth of landfills and sanitation, earth banks. It is sought, through Environmental Education, a manner of conveying information about fluorescent lamps, which, when discarded in an inadequate way, cause high soil, water and air contamination, leading to human health damage. One fluorescent lamp, when it breaks, releases mercury vapor, which condensates in the air and returns to its metallic state, and mercury, being heavier than air, collapses to the ground, thus contaminating the underground and water tables. To make one conscious and sensitive would be mandatory words, because the environment needs to preserved in order to guarantee life quality. This research had as goal to convey the collected information, which is about the handling and compound of fluorescent lamps, as well as the damage they cause when they are not properly discarded, to a greater number of people, and mainly to the students who attend to Escola Estadual Rômulo Zanqui, for they are bound to a lamp gathering practice in the area where the school is located, at Bairro João Goulart, in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil.
