Resumen
This article aims to analyze the importance of social networks in verbal communication (written or spoken), contributing in the questions of spelling and interpretation of reading, especially of People with Intellectual Disabilities. The positive or negative influence of technologies through social networks can interfere with the understanding and construction of literacy as well as with social interactions. The present study was developed with the alumni of the Tanara Girardon Julien Municipal School of Special Education in the city of Jaguari, state of “Rio Grande do Sul”, currently in other municipal schools. Considering that virtual communication occurs through the exchange of messages, dialogues (chat), e-mails and others, it is necessary that there is an understanding regarding dialogue, thus building a learning of writing and also the development of the capacity interpretation and interaction. The Person with Intellectual Disability has difficulties in the literacy process, resulting in delays compared to those considered "normal", and this causes educators to seek attractive alternatives and to facilitate student learning based on their interests. Social networks, whose access was promoted during the research work, were effective in achieving significant improvements in writing, reading, interpretation and social interactions of the students involved.
