Sessões de hipoxia normobárica com canoístas: adaptação da frequência cardíaca e da saturação periférica de oxigênio da hemoglobina

This study assessed the effect of normobaric hypoxia sessions, resting on the SpO2 and HR of elite paddlers, who were preparing for the struggle for Pan-American Championship Canoe in Mexico at an altitude of approximately 2340 m. For that underwent five athletes with a mean age of 21,2 and standard deviation of 2,6, for 7 days a week, the sessions of hypoxia. The sessions were 30 to 90 minutes duration, with intensity of 15.5% to 12% O2, and recorded the data results of SpO2 and heart rate. The comparison between pre-and post-test, using the Student t test showed a significant increase (p ˂ 0.001) and the percentage reduction in SpO2 (p ˂ 0.001) in HR in all subjects. We conclude that the protocol of intermittent hypoxic training (IHT) used, improves the body's response to hypoxia, showing itself through increased SpO2 and reducing resting HR.
