dc.description.abstractThe cervical cancer (CC) is the second most common cancer in women worldwide. Their main causative agent the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which is mainly transmitted through sex and their relationship to the development of cervical cancer is well known. The tracking is accomplished by cytology, labeled as a secondary prevention strategy for early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions. Since primary prevention strategy is related to decreased risk of infection by HPV vaccination. This work is a historical analysis of data on cervical cancer from indicators available in DATASUS - SISCOLO, based on 2006 Brazil's tracking programs to 2014, in addition to the national campaign coverage data analysis vaccination for HPV in South region of Brazil, carried out a retrospective, descriptive study. By analyzing the data obtained, it is observed that 88.15% of the examinations belong to the age group 25-64 years of age, as recommended by the Ministry of Health. The prevalence of alterations in Pap smear prevails in women between 20 and 29 years (27.8%) in southern Brazil. It follows therefore that the Pap smear testing is an essential tool in the early detection of changes that may lead to the development of cervical cancer. It is a easy, fast, effective and low cost, which must be stimulated both by the management but also by the professionals of Family Health Teams. If performed diagnostic tests and early treatment risks of injury develop into a malignancy are rare and the quality of life of these users improved markedly.
