The leadership in family health is a complex issue with many interpretations,
requires that the leader understands their environment and influence people according to
the objectives and purposes of the organization. This study constitute in analyze the
publications related to the theme in the literature about leadership in nursing and it was
on the following specific objectives: investigate factors influencing the improvement of
effectiveness and leadership at work in family health, pointing out the challenges and
perspectives of leadership in the context of nursing, analyze and compare the evolution of
concepts about leadership in this area. This study deals with the narrative literature
review of descriptive character, carried out in the period January to November 2012. The
bibliographic survey was conducted on electronic sources of Scielo, google scholar and in
library collections at the Federal University of Santa Maria and Faculdade Palotina. The
literature research was conduted from August to November of 2012, with the keywords
"leadership, leader and Family Health Strategy", in which met references on the subject
in books and articles through inclusion and exclusion for a deeper analysis of the issue.
Through this work, it was possible to understand the elements that induce in the
improvement of the effectiveness of the work of nurse-leader, the difficulty and
responsibility as well as the importance of the nurse-leader who uses the leadership based
in service and care, built by love-donation. Through the richness of the data obtained on
this work it was possible to observe that there is a need for the nursing leadership is
always in search of resolution, quality and humanization of ESF services, in order to
achieve the best objectives.
