Resumen
The present paper aims at discussing the bases that may serve as guidelines to the
project of implanting a corporate university at the CEEE Group. Corporate
universities have been studied for over forty years, but the main interest in their
creation was recorded in the 1980s, a decade in which the companies attributed
more importance than ever before to managing strategies and to the training and
development of their employees. Realizing that they could no further depend on other
public institutions to qualify their collaborators, organizations took steps towards
creating their own corporate universities. That meant establishing higher levels for
the apprenticeship process and connecting the apprenticeship programs very closely
with the companies’ goals and results. Corporate universities have some specific
characteristics which distinguish them from the areas of training and development to
meet the necessities of the organization: they are proactive; they act in the
development of essential competencies; they are innovative in the ways of building
knowledge; they act in the development and managing of tools designed to detect
and capture the knowledge available in the organization’s professionals, clients and
suppliers; they seek to follow up the practical use of knowledge, i.e., the
transformation of knowledge into competitive advantages that generate intellectual
capital. It is along these lines that the CEEE Group should structure the basis of its
corporate university, developing and disseminating the organization’s culture,
focusing corporate results and thus aiming at long term perspectives like attracting,
qualifying and retaining talents.
