The sustainable nutritional food safety means guarantee for everyone, conditions to
access food with quality permanently, without compromising other needs. This
research had the purpose to analyze an ecological production system and based in
the principles of the agroecológia and the collective work of the families of the
Cooperative Vista Alegre (COOPAVA) on the agrarian reform settlement Conquest of
Freedom, Piratini city, Rio Grande do Sul. It was done an analysis of the contribution
of the products from these agricultural systems on the sustainable income and food
safety of these families. The evaluation of these systems as well as the collective
work of the cooperative was related to the social, cultural, environmental and
economic aspects, to identify the level of sustainability that these associated families
have. The study had a qualitative character, such as "case study" although it has
some methodologies described by the literature. The descriptive data was obtained
through direct and interactive contact of the researcher with the object of study. One
searched the phenomena from the perspective of the participants of the studied
situation and from the data interpretation. With the results gotten in this research it
was possible to affirm that the way of ecological production and the collective work of
the families had contributed not only to improve the conditions of economic and
ambient sustainability, but had earned in improvements in the quality of life.
