Resumen
In a world characterized by globalization of the economy, whose knowledge is the
great capital of humanity, the demand for a citizen capable of dealing with the
technologies and languages arises as a necessary requirement to enter in the
society. Thus, the school management needs to be articulated to overcome the
challenges of the contemporary world and to contribute, decisively, in the formation of
critical and participatory people. That discussion is enlarged, through the authors'
theoretical presuppositions as Demo (2007), Durkheim (1999), Gadotti (2000),
Libâneo (2003), Lück (2008) among others that emphasize the importance of a
human formation returned to the exercise of the citizenship. The work, in the
methodological perspective of the case study, investigates as problem if: There is a
relationship between the management of new technologies in school and student
performance?" However, the study does not propose to discuss specific technologies
or innovations in education, but has as its goal the relevance of these new
technologies in the academic performance of students in the final stage of the Rui
Barbosa Primary School, in the period 2005 to 2010. Thus, during the research it
appears that the management of new technologies in the school environment may in
fact be one of the indicators that explain the improvement of teaching and learning of
that institution.
