Resumen
This paper presents an analysis of energy losses in electricity distribution,
focusing on losses by Joule Effect in the primary distribution system. Are proposed
two loss reduction possibilities resulting therefore in an increase of energy efficiency
in the transport of energy from substations to the final consumers. These possibilities
are reconductoring and the application of a capacitor bank. Studies are made for a
real feeder circuit, existing in the concession area of the CEEE-D, are calculated
current energy losses and compared with losses after the reconductoring and
installation of a capacitor bank. This theoretical comparison takes into account
technical aspects and analyzes the financial viability of applying these techniques.
From this analysis it the economic viability only in the application of capacitor bank.
The reconductoring has a very high cost, while increasing the quality and reliability of energy supply.
