dc.description.abstractThis work it is a reflective study that from the literature review aimed to evaluate the importance of the municipal health councils as a mechanism of social control and popular participation in health. So, we tried to by this article, reflecting on the challenges of seeking thematic suggest measures to impact the viability of actions that best represent the wishes of the population and health in the municipality. We used articles and dissertations pertaining to this issue, the focus of actions the participation of the population in relation to social control in public health policies. The literature shows that for the realization of the impact of citizen participation through health councils is necessary to articulate the actions that aware about the importance of citizen participation and duties of boards of health in order to better allocate resources for population health.
