Resumen
The increased incidence of cancer in Brazil is undeniable and data provided by the INCA support this information. For some patients with specific types of hematological malignancies there is a type of treatment called Stem Cell Transplantation Hematopoietic (HSCT) or Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT), offering longer survival. The HSCT is a treatment for hematological diseases, which affect blood cells, in order to reconstruct a healthy marrow. Can be allogeneic, syngeneic or autologous. This research presents the profile of users treated at the pre-transplant HUSM multidisciplinary clinic. Survey participants were 33 patients, with a predominance of males (21 - 63.6%). The mean age was 55.8 years. Most patients were Caucasian (29 - 87.9%). The most common underlying disease was Multiple Myeloma (14 - 42.4%). In 30 patients it was possible to identify the defined time of discovery of the disease (mean age 52 years). The average age at HSCT was 53 years. 15 patients were able to identify the length of stay whose average was 40 days. The post-transplant follow-up, the average was 20 months. The handle of neutrophils (average occurred in D + 17- information found in 14 patients). The handle of platelets (average in D + 18- information found in 11 participants). Most patients showed no comorbid conditions (13 to 39.4 %). Among the comorbidities , the most prevalent was hypertension (6 - 18.2%). 24 (72.7 %) did not have any complications after HSCT.
