The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is characterized by chronic airflow obstruction, which is related to abnormal inflammatory response of the lungs and back as a result of losses in lung mechanics causing dyspnea and peripheral muscles. The benefits of regular exercise are evident for this condition, such as improved physical exertion, decreased shortness of breath, maximizing the effect of dilating bronco therapy. The Pilates Method is considered a type of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and improves lung capacity. The objective of this study was to discuss the benefits of implementing the Pilates next to Primary as promotion and recovery strategy users with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This is a literature review whose search was in magazines and scientific journals surveyed in SCIELO portal and the Ministry of Health website using the words Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, physical activity, Pilates and Health System, in August and September 2015. With this study, we can say that Pilates is effective for the recovery of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease because the quality of that physical activity, making the individual return to their activities of daily living. Furthermore, the importance of this activity to Public Management, as a low-cost treatment which allows the individual an effective recovery, thereby lowering as palliative drugs that are expensive.
