Resumen
The alarm substance is produced and released by fish in predator attack, triggering aversive responses of fear or aggression in their conspecifics. The aggressiveness, despite being an adaptively response of animal is related to behavioral disorders in humans. Several studies have associated the serotonin neurotransmitter and monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzyme to the aggressive behavior. In order to better understand the biological basis of aggression and alarm substance, in this study we evaluated the agonistic and neurochemical behavioral changes caused by the alarm substance in different zebrafish (Danio rerio) strains, using the mirror-induced agression test (MIA).The results demonstrated that the zMAO modulation in the acute experimental measurement of alarm substance is dependent of WT and leo strains.
