The present study explores the childhood memories of Iberê Camargo in his Spools series from the meta-historical proposal of Hayden White allied to the metaphor of Nelson Goodman. The work is divided into four chapters. The first deals with notions of memory and meta-memory, and the goal is to confront theories of authors who address the subject in such a manner that, at the apex of the research, these concepts can be resumed. The second chapter exposes notions of representation and is aimed at the discussions among the authors who deal with the issue of representation in the fields of history and art, and likewise to the previous chapter, will be continued in the last chapter. The third chapter aims to expose the method adopted for analyzing the material collected, that is, the meta-historical narrative, more specifically the metaphor, thus creating a dialogue between the relativistic propositions of White and Goodman. The fourth and final chapter will demonstrate how Iberê Camargo represented his childhood memories in the Carretéis series. In this manner, the work will begin with a brief exposition of the life and work of Iberê, as well as a concise conceptualization of the spool and Carretéis series. Afterwards, the theme of the artist will be revealed by bringing the affective objects of his childhood to a pictorial and textual universe, that is, to an aesthetic version of the world in which his childhood memories originated the Carretéis series. To achieve this, time and memory will be presented in subchapters: the transmission of memory, the rupture with the boundaries of being, and the transmission of resources. Nevertheless, the subdivision of this last subsection will contemplate the three expressive languages used by the artist that will be used as transmission resources, which are comprised of sixteen works from the Series - six paintings, five engravings, and five drawings. Through the meta-historical narrative, the objective is to interweave the three expressive media cited with the textual works of Iberê with the concepts chosen as categories, as well as the anthropological method, specifically the metaphor, in order to demonstrate how Iberê represented his childhood memories in the Carretéis Series.
