Through a case study, this paper was performed in order to analyze which advances and challenges were encountered with the full-time deployment in the public schools in Santa Clara do Sul - RS about the expansion of the length of students staying in school. Therefore, a literature review on this topic was carried out articulating the studies conducted in the Specialization in Management of Public Education offered by the Federal University of Santa Maria. Aiming a deepening study on full-time deployment in the researched context, a survey was carried out, which consisted of questionnaires answered by managers, teachers and some parents of full-time school, located in the urban area of the municipal system, in the municipality of Santa Clara do Sul - RS, in which, the researcher works in the Education, Culture and Sport Department, in the administrative sector. The collected data were analyzed linking them with the current public policies that governing the full-time processes in Basic Education, particularly, focusing on the role of school management as a promoter of such processes, by articulating the varoius school segments looking for individual and collective strategies that promote the improvement of the supply of full-time, enhancing the interactions and promoting learning sharing by the different actors in the school community.
The reflections made based on research seeking improvements in the full-time deployment in public schools, in teacher training and today teaching and learning challenges. The full-time deployment in the city of Santa Clara do Sul was considered positive, according to the conducted research, there are points to be improved, but they will be solved along the process, day-to-day working in schools.
