Objective: To comprehend the perception of women about a Center for Psychosocial Care Alcohol and Other Drugs as a care strategy. Method: Qualitative study, in which 14 semi-structured interviews were conducted between April and September 2017, with women who sought treatment in this service in the referred year. Based on the data analysis, five categories emerged: perceptions on Center for Psychosocial Care, Center for Psychosocial Care as a change propellant, difficulty of leaving the Center for Psychosocial Care, limitations to access the Center for Psychosocial Care and being a woman in the Center for Psychosocial Care. Results and Discussion: Point to the importance of substitutive services in mental health for women, to whom it is a device that aims to strengthen their autonomy and social reintegration Conclusion: The substitutive services demonstrate the challenges to achieve universal, integral and humanized care. It is noted the importance of securing this space of expression for women and to think new forms and strategies of care, by means of the appreciation of intersetorial ties, taking into account the specificities of this population
