Resumen
Wabi-sabi, a japanese concept, concerns everything that experiences the passing of
time, that is imperfect, incomplete and impermanent. This work shows the creative
process and development of textile surfaces which express this concept. First, it was
necessary to know the cultural aspects and understand the japanese aesthetic
concepts, to then develop the research and interpretation of the japanese traditional
textile techniques. A different vision is proposed for the theme in respect to the
beauty, as the imperfection, the nature's transitoriety, the damage caused by the
passing of time. Based on the chosen references, the development of textile surfaces
which represent these characteristics is done: textiles which recall to the complex
wabi-sabi concept using manual techniques. The shibori and katazome techniques,
allied to natural dyeing, were explored, and also techniques based on discharging.
