This article addresses the need of the teacher and the school being updated and prepared to develop actions to prevent drug use in the school environment. It shows some results on the knowledge and experience of teachers and schools when it comes to drug use among students and as teachers must face and react in this new issue that haunts the schools, discussing the current teacher's role as potential agent for prevention of drug use. The teacher, although he is recognized as an opinion leader he is not considered sufficiently qualified to broach the subject. The survey also sought to investigate the school's stance as regards the drug use by students. In the continuity of the work is shown the result of questionnaire that collected information among teachers of Maria Pacicco de Freitas School, of the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul, on their knowledge regarding drugs, their role and the role of the school. It also sought theoretical support on drug use in the city and in the schools in general, jointly with the CRAS and talks with some teachers.
