Impacto económico de las inversiones realizadas por el INIAP en investigación y transferencia de tecnología en palma africana (Elaeis guineensis Jacq). Ecuador. 2000 - 2011.

Abstract

Se estimó el impacto económico de las inversiones realizadas por el INIAP en investigación y transferencia de tecnología en palma africana en Ecuador, durante el período 2000-2011. Se realizó la caracterización agroeconómica del cultivo analizando la superficie, producción, rendimiento, precio, entre otros. El análisis de costos de investigación y transferencia de tecnología del Programa de Palma Africana del INIAP, sumó USD 2 593 690.19. Con el modelo de Excedentes Económicos se calcularon los beneficios atribuibles a la investigación que alcanzaron los USD 85 795 833.57. La tasa de adopción del híbrido Tenera- INIAP decreció del 71.92% en los años 60, al 33.72% en los años 2000. Mediante entrevistas se estimó el peso atribuible a la investigación del INIAP cuyo promedio fue del 44.09% de aporte al desarrollo del sector palmicultor ecuatoriano. Los indicadores de rentabilidad fueron: Valor Actual Neto de USD 128 009 512.14; relación Beneficio-Costo igual a 17.60 y Tasa Interna de Retorno Económico de 45.71%, concluyendo que la inversión en investigación en palma africana generó beneficios para el país.

Were estimated the economic impact of the investments of INIAP in research and technology transfer in palm in Ecuador, during the 2000-2011 period. Was realized agroeconomic characterization of palm cultivation, analyzing the area, production, performance, price, among others. The analysis of cost of research and technology transfer African Palm program of INIAP totaled, USD 2 593 690.19. With the Economic Surplus model were calculated the benefits attributable to research that reached USD 85 795 833.57. The adoption rate of hybrid Tenera - INIAP decreased from 71.92 % in the 60s, to 33.72 % in decade of 2000. Through interviews was estimated attributable weight to research of INIAP which averaged 44.09% of contributions to developing the African palm sector in Ecuador. Profitability ratios were: Net Present Value of USD 128 009 512.14; benefit-cost ratio equal to 17.60 and Economic Internal Rate of Return of 45.71 %, concluding that investment in oil palm research generated benefits for the country.
