Resumen
This chapter presents the energetic densification as an alternative for the use of lignocellulosic residues, such as the ones from ethanol production, so that they can be used in gasifiers, aiming towards the energy cogeneration. The residues from ethanol’s producing process (first or second generation) are valuable feedstocks for the energy cogeneration process, presenting, thus, a proposal to integrate the ethanol production and the energy cogeneration. The authors intend to address the concepts related to energetic densification, biomass characterization, as well as the kinds of energetic densification, like briquettes and pellets, and the respective machinery, not forgetting about the concepts of gasification and the kinds of gasifiers used for the energy cogeneration process.
