Resumen
The objective of this text is to analyze the problem of precariousness and overexploitation in work relations at Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the city of Porto Velho (RO - Brazil), understanding it in the context of the development of the Brazilian capitalism under the New Developmentalism, where the Amazon is consolidated as the new national hydro-energy frontier. As a means for the analysis of this article, we will highlight the health and safety conditions of work during the construction of the establishment. We will take as a theoretical and methodological basis the Geography of Labour, the debate on safety and health at work, official documents of government agencies, interviews with union, workers and public agents.
