DEGRADATION OF PUBLIC SQUARE AND THE RISK FACTORS FOR THE POPULATION: EXAMPLES FROM THE CITY OF NATAL/RN

The conditions of degradation in which are some public square of the city fall directly on the fall of his quality and the loss of their functions, and can pose risks to their users. In this sense, the goal is to check what the risk factors, potential, that public square of Natal/RN offer for the local population, because of absence of contingency resulting from degradation and inadequacies present conditions. Readings were held on the subject in the agenda, followed by secondary data from surveys on the characteristics and conditions of 168 public square of the city, selected from a simple random sampling, stratified by district. The results show that on the conditions of its leisure facilities, urban equipment support, the cleaning conditions, afforestation and soil permeability in the public square analyzed, these, present potential risk factors such as, physical accidents, pollution air, soil and visual; floods, acts of violence, increased temperature and thermal discomfort for its users, to the surrounding population and for the city as a whole, because of the scope of the target problem.
