The article aims to understand the use of the land for agricultural activities, from 2000 to 2013, in Rural Development Office (EDR) of Sao Joao da Boa Vista- SP and in the cities with sugarcane agribusiness. The reason of choosing this region is its tradition on milk and coffee production. That research was based on literature review and secondary data collection. The indexes were chosen as analysis parameter: Effect Scale (EE) that measures the changes in the size or culture scales and the Substitution Effect (ES) that allows knowing the areas that have been replaced the expansion for other cultures. Result: positive EE on the total area of the EDR and cities as Mococa and Tapiratiba, negative for Sao Joao da Boa Vista and positive ES for sugar cane in all analyses, an indication that the sugar cane is territorializing.
