A família Squillidae (Crustacea : Hoplocarida : Stomatopoda) no Atlântico Sul ocidental: taxonomia e biogeografia

Abstract

O estudo taxonômico e biogeográfico da família Squillidae Latreille, 1802, objetivou aprimorar o conhecimento das espécies que ocorrem no litoral brasileiro, uruguaio e argentino, esclarecendo aspectos sistemáticos e analisando a biogeografia das espécies distribuídas no Oceano Atlântico sul ocidental. De acordo com o presente trabalho, a família Squillidae, encontrada na região, é representada por 19 espécies, distribuídas em 7 gêneros. O gênero Rissoides, com R. calypso, é citado, pela primeira vez para o Atlântico ocidental, no litoral brasileiro. Três padrões longitudinais e seis padrões latitudinais de distribuição, foram verificados nos Squillidae. A análise do material forneceu dados para a ampliação dos registros de ocorrência de quatro espécies no Atlântico sul ocidental: Meiosquilla quadridens, M. tricarinata, R. calypso e Squilla brasiliensis.

The taxonomic and biogeographical study of the family Squillidae Latreille, 1802, aimed to improve the knowledge of species occurring in the Brazilian, Uruguayan and Argentine coast, clarifying systematic aspects and analysing the biogeography of species distributed in the western South Atlantic Ocean. According to this work, family Squillidae found in the region is represented by 19 species, distributed in 7 genera. The genus Rissoides with R. calypso is cited for the first time for the western Atlantic Ocean from Brazilian coast. Three longitudinal patterns and six latitudinal patterns of distribution were recorded on the Squillidae. The analysis of the material provided data for the expansion of the records of occurrence of four species in the South West Atlantic: Meiosquilla quadridens, M. tricarinata, R. calypso e Squilla brasiliensis.
