Resumen
Chicken anaemia virus (CAV) was isolated for the first time in Chile from thymus samples obtained from SPF chickens experimentally infected with CAV serologically positive tissues. Isolation was conducted in MDCC-MSB1 cell cultures. Virus replication was evidenced by both the induction of a cytopathologic effect characterized by enlarged swollen cells and by the identification of the virus in the cells through immunofluorescence tests employing a specific reference monoclonal antibody.
