Resumen
Introduction: Colorectal cancer is among the three first cancers in the world, the knowledge and identification of factors associated to non optimal outcomes allow to perform an integral management of the patient. Objective: Characterize operated patients for colorectal pathology and explore associations with surgical outcomes. Materials and Methods: An analytical observational cross-sectional study was performed, and information was collected from a retrospective cohort of patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer between 2013 and 2017 at the university hospital Mederi - Colombia. Results: 455 patients were collected during the study period, of these 48,14% were men. The overall percentage of complications was of 23.74%, infection of the operative area of any type in 15.38% of the patients, dehiscence of the anastomosis in 4.18% and bleeding that causes reoperation in 1.32%. Regarding in-hospital mortality a 7.47% was reported. Discussion: We demonstrate a direct association in achieving complete R0 dissections and relationship with global morbidity and recurrence decrease during the evaluation. The percentage of global complication is 23.7%, below the percentage established worldwide of 27% 38, , the operative area infection is 15% below the percentage described by literature; On the other hand, our percentage of dehiscence of anastomosis is found in a 4.18% value that is within the range of several multicentre studies where it is spoken from 2% to 8%. colonic neoplasms, rectal neoplasms, management, surgical procedures.
