Resumen
Introduction: Results of laser hair removal vary between different types of devices and patient characteristics, achieving reductions of up to 25% per session in available literature. In clinical practice hair count is used as a tool to modify treatment parameters and changes or combinations of lasers in order to achieve maximal reduction.
Materials and methods: In a historical cohort sessions were analyzed 79 patients (298 sessions) who were determined clinical variables of hair reduction with three different systems, along with the parameters for each device, to a maximum interval of 90 days between each session.
Results: 79 women for a total of 298 sessions evaluated with an age range between 18 and 67 years, skin phototype III-V, with session-by-session interval of 14-90 days. Devices used Soprano XLi® (64.7%), LightSheer® (18.4%) Alexandrite (16.9%). Average reduction for first session were 43.3±32%, second session 55.8±42.1%, third session 48.1±16%, fourth session 51.8±26.6%, fifth session 61.2 ± 26.7%. Dependent variables of treatment like kilojoules per session were not statistically significantly correlated with reduction percentage. There was a low incidence of complications (7.6%patients) were statistically higher their presence with the use of Alexandrite and Lightsheer®, unlike Soprano®.
Discussion: This longitudinal study showed high reductions session to session compared with those available in literature, regardless of the equipment used. The Soprano laser had better safety profile than LightSheer® and Alexandrite.
