Resumen
Introduction: For millions of couples around the world, the inability to have children is a personal tragedy. Therefore, it is not surprising that the demand for assisted reproduction techniques (ART) and the identification of variables to discern the success of these treatments are increasing worldwide. Methods: Observational, retrospective cohort. Included the medical records of patients from the Fertility Unit of the Country of Bogota (Conceptum) between January 20, 2005 to December 15, 2010. The aim was to establish if there are differences in serum levels of progesterone in pregnant patients and those without, and the identification of variables associated with successful pregnancy in patients treated with assisted reproduction techniques. Results: Mean age 35.7 years (25-45años). 352 cycles were analyzed patients, 131 pregnant women (110 deliveries, 18 abortions and 2 ectopic). The variables in the multivariate analysis had a greater association with the outcome variable were: serum progesterone levels, patient age and number of embryos type I / II. The discriminatory power of the final model was assessed by the area under the ROC curve was 0.714 which. The model sensitivity was 33.3% with a specificity of 84.3%. Discussion: serum progesterone levels in pregnant patients differ from those that are not. It requires a deeper analysis to determine if this variable is associated with the viability of pregnancy.
