Resumen
Liver transplantation is the standard of treatment of acute liver diseases, irreversible and chronic. Multislice CT (MSCT) is a useful tool that is used in the proper selection of candidates for transplantation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the (MSCT) in the detection of hepatic lesions in the cirrhotic liver.
METHODOLOGY: Retrospective study of diagnostic test which includes patients of liver transplantation of the Fundación Cardioinfantíl which was them conducted (MSCT) in the pretrasplante assessment, making comparison with the result of the pathology of the explanted liver.
RESULTS: 9.5% of the patients studied by tomography were diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma cell. The sensitivity and specificity in the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma was 50% and the 94.87% respectively.
DISCUSSION: The prevalence of liver tumors in patients carried liver transplantation has been reported as of more than 8%. It is this study found a prevalence for the hepatocellular carcinoma of 7.14% which shows low incidence in our environment for the hepatocellular carcinoma in transplant, which translates into a high chance of survival. In our study the sensitivity of the (MSCT) for the detection of focal lesions in general was 41.17%.The sensitivity and specificity in the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma was 50% and the 94.87% respectively.
