Resumen
Purpose – To demonstrate, with the rigor of scientific research in management, the difficulty in the organizational communication (TOC) of the Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (Min TIC), describing how is that from the point of
view of the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) in order to improve TOC.
Design / methodology / approach – This is a descriptive study based on the use of a quantitative mono-method, where 456 people were contacted by email, of which 255 collaborators answered the CSQ web questionnaire, representing a population of 857 workers.
Findings – 50 % consider that there is a satisfactory communication; the feedback (effective communication component) is perceived by 43 %; there are women who perceive that their effort requires recognition. It is considered that the communication skills of those who compose the Min TIC is in 36 %, and 20 % of that population is satisfied with the existence of rumors. Two journals stand out as sources of academic literature on TOC.
Limitations – The CSQ is a holistic instrument then it excludes solution of specific problems. Scope of generalization outcomes for other organizations.
Recommendations – Prioritize the practice of personal feedback for effective
communication.
Practical implications – A sustainable improvement of TOC at Min TIC, with individual
and institutional professional benefits.
Social implications – To make the public aware of the status of LCO in the Min TIC.
Originality/value – Quantitative measurement of TCO in a Colombian governmental
entity.
