Induced hyperventilation has been a common maneuver used in the anesthetic management of neurosurgical procedures. Years ago, there was medical skepticism if hyperventilation resulted in cerebral ischemia. We now know that this maneuver is detrimental and worsens the patient´s condition and prognosis.
