Resumen
Neoliberalism was savagely introduced in Latin America, with deplorable results: it didn’t manage to keep up with the capitalist accumulation, and the population’s life conditions were deteriorated. Neoliberal cities are even more contradictory than their capitalist predecessors: they maintain their vices and lost their few virtues. In the 21st century, the worldwide urbanization will conclude. Latin America will be one of the most urbanized regions. It’s metropolis and region-cities, with their gigantism, mess, dispersion, privatization, fragmentation, unreliability, impoverishment, exclusion, confl ict, violence and contamination initiated this century in structural and social crisis; its future appears as the disjunctive between the deepening of its crisis; or the change of economical, social and territorial organization in order to revert its basic components.
