Resumen
Al present, treatment of forearm shaft fractures in children from 6 to 12 years of age is controversial, due to the different management options available. Objective: to develop a systematic literature review and determine the best treatment option for forearm shaft fractures in children from 6 to 12 years of age. Materials and methods: a systematic and manual search for comparative descriptive studies about different treatment options for forearm shaft fractures in children from 6 to 12 years was realized. Results: 16 articles were identified of which 6 met the inclusion criteria showing five different treatments options. No functional difference was seen between de groups of treatment, but there were more angulations complications in the intramedullary nailing group. Selection bias and differences in measurement tools where found in the studies. Conclusions: the evidence shown by this systematic review does not reveal which is the best treatment (taking into account different ostesynthesis material) for this kind of fracture. Controlled clinical trials that evaluate different types of treatment for these fractures are required.
