Resumen
The objective of this research is to explain how the WTO agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights in terms of patent has modified traditional agricultural practices associated with the use of corn seeds in the municipality of Silvia (Cauca) between 2010 and 2015. This agreement is part of a regime with principles and norms expressed on the recognition of intellectual property rights on seeds and the possibility to trade them, which is contradictory with existing cultural parameters of local farming communities like the indigenous territory of Guambía (located in Silvia), who face transformations of their agricultural worldview and their economic culture. The research concludes with an analysis of how this kind of cultural contradictions among local and international regimes are managed through intra-state political mobilizations.
