Resumen
According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Cleaner Production is «the continuous application of an integrated environmental strategy to processes, products and services to increase efficiency and reduce risks to humans and the environment» (Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA), 2006)
This strategy is applicable to any process, product, or service, and contains different actions, which include simple steps that go from small, easy, and immediate changes in the operation processes, to major changes that include the substitution of raw materials, or production lines to more efficient ones.
As a result of the research made, a strategic Cleaner Production plan was formulated for the Rosario University, which allows the conservation of raw materials, like water, and the efficient management of energy, besides the reduction of the toxic raw materials, related to toxicity and quantity, and the reduction of emissions and residual materials that go to the water and the atmospheres having a direct impact on its environment.
As a result of this, a Cleaner Production Programme implemented at El Rosario University, requires certain behaviors to be changed, the development of a responsible environmental management, the creation of convenient policies and the evaluation of new technological options that can have a positive impact on its implementation throughout these techniques:
• Process Improvements
• Good operative practices
• Equipment maintenance
• Reuse and recycle
• Raw material changes
• Technology improvements
As a result of this, a transforming model for the institution will be implemented that will contribute to its durability, turning El Rosario into a pioneer University capable of diminishing its environmental impact on the community.
