¿Bienestar Social o Pauperización?: La Política de Migración del Reino Unido y su Impacto Sobre la Fuerza Laboral Nacional

Abstract

With the arrival in power of the United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1997, some changes that aimed to attract labor migrants where implemented in the migration policy of the UK. That new migration policy, as well as its impact on the domestic labor force has been analyzed. In this research, using the precepts of the liberal paradigm of the International Relations, a balance of the positive and negative impact that the implementation of a migration policy oriented to welcome and promote large scale immigration, had on the working population from The UK, especially on social, cultural, demographic and economic fields, was carried out. As conclusion, the research indicates the turn in the migration policy did not accomplish significant benefits to native population, especially in economic and social issues.
