Resumen
The recovery of assets involved in practices of crimes against humanity, war crimesand genocide is a measure ratified by the founding documents of the InternationalCriminal Court. ICC case law has shown opportunities to contemplate the confiscation of property as a primary measure to respond to the most serious conflicts. The recovery of assets stops the flow of funds for illicit purposes and thus affects the structures that sponsor conflicts. Moreover, initiatives for social, economic andpolitical development can be financed through recovered goods.
