This working paper aims to be a contribution for the creation of proper scenarios for the development of social entrepreneurial endeavors. The biological and organizational approaches of the ecosystem concept are presented and discussed, in order to synthetize and understand the meaning of entrepreneurial ecosystems, taking into account the initial definition of social entrepreneurship. The analysis of what success means for these ecosystems is also considered, and this leads to the definition of vitality. Therefore, this document’s main goal is the introduction of a methodological proposal that evaluates the mentioned vitality of social entrepreneurship ecosystems. Thus, it is necessary to revise previously developed methodologies that describe proper contexts that foster entrepreneurship along with their respective variables; the key aspects are synthesized in order to design the methodological proposal. Finally, an initial approximation of this proposal is tested in Bogota, Colombia.
