When encounters between companies belonging to different cultures take place, it is easy for misunderstandings to arise due to the existence of socio-cultural differences and a limited knowledge of such. These socio-cultural clashes hinder the success of the internationalization strategy, which in turn renders financial and strategic efforts a waste, hence threatening the organization’s longevity. This investigation identifies those socio-cultural variables which act over the negotiations and incursions that Colombian enterprises make into foreign markets, so as to provide key elements on how to be highly competitive in intercultural matters and therefore to be able to face the challenges posed by a global economy
