Resumen
Objective To establish the prevalence of DME and its association with ergonomic factors (posture, cargo handling and repetitive work) in administrative workers of an Educational Institution of Higher Education (IENS).
Methods A descriptive study of 146 workers cross section of a IENS city of Neiva (Huila) was conducted between April and May of 2015. To collect information two instruments were used: an instrument for the characterization sociodemographic and occupational and standardized to identify damage and exposure to ergonomic hazards at work (ERGOPAR) questionnaire.
Results 90.4 % of workers had discomfort or pain in any area of the body, among which were the worst affected areas of the neck, shoulders and / or upper back with 79.9 %, lower back with 65.8 % and the hands and / or wrists with 49.3 %.
Conclusions an association between exposure to ergonomic factors and the presence of DME was found, indicating that the positions of enforced or long working and cargo handling represent a high biomechanical risk for workers, which can be reflected in the medium to long term development of disorders or diseases that can become disabling for workers, affecting their quality of life and work productivity.
