Objective: Determine the values of the index waist / hip ratio (WHR) in a populationSchool of Bogota, Colombia, belonging to FUPRECOL study. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in 3, 005 children and 2, 916adolescents between 9 and 17. 9 years of age, belonging to 24 institutions educational official in Bogota, Colombia. Measures were taken of weight, height , waist circumference, hip circumference. The degree of sexual maturity collected by self-report. Percentilesis calculated (P3, P10, P25, P50, P75, P90 and P97) by sex and age and a comparison between the values of the ICC was held observed international standards. Results: Of the general population (n = 5, 921), 57. 0% were women (average age 12. 7 ± 2. 3 years). In all ages the ICC was higher in males in women, showing a decrease in the average values obtained from 9 to 17. 9 years. In males, the values of the ICC greater than P90 (associated with cardiovascular risk) were in the range 0. 87 to and 0. 93 in women between 0. 85 and 0. 89. When comparing the results of this study, by age group and sex, with boys and international work teenagers from Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, we see that the values of ICC in this study were lower in both sexes, exceptstudents from Greece and Venezuela. Conclusions: ICC percentiles are presented by age and gender which may reference be used in assessing the nutritional status and prediction cardiovascular risk population from an early age in Bogota, Colombia.
