Abstract

Development of paper based on organic waste (especially those from banana peel) combined with other components allows the obtaining of cellulose fiber for the production of paper and its derivatives. After an observation and research exercise in the paper and pulp sector, it was identified that there are alternative sources to the traditional one (extracted from trees) for the production of cellulose, the main input in the production of paper. In different Asian countries such as Thailand, Japan, the Philippines and countries of Central America such as Costa Rica and Mexico, paper based on other fibers or polymers extracted from biomass has been made as it is also called. The objective of the work is to show an alternative within the sector based on the waste of organic material such as banana peels. The project is based on the development of a sustainable industry under the concept of circular economy.
