Resumen
This monograph aims at describing the corporate culture and its relationship with corporate performance from the standpoint of complexity science. Firstly, it defines culture and exposes the main characteristics of complex systems, and then it explores how certain complex phenomena are reflected in the corporate culture. Furthermore this study explores Dolan et al work regarding management by values and values as attractors.
This research also checks a variety of definitions and concepts regarding organizational performance and identifies some existing research pointing out at the correlation between strong corporate culture and performance. Nevertheless Gordon & DiTomaso conclude that it is not well understood how the relation works beyond a mere correlation.
At the end this research concludes that complexity presents an option to explain how the relation between culture and performance can work identifying values as cultural phenomena that drive emergence. Still some questions remain open as to the applicability of strategies for implementing this study into an organization. In the same tenure it remains open the use of simulation tools to deepen this field, too
