Resumen
This project seeks to develop a model for identifying export opportunities to the Northern Triangle (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador) for a typical Colombian company.
It is divided into four parts. In the first part we will present the macroeconomic profile of each of the countries of the target market. In the second part, a model is developed in Microsoft Excel (hereinafter Model to identify opportunities) that make use of information such as tariff and tariff duties in 2013 in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and tariffs of the year 2012 for Guatemala, which will through the use of conditional formulas, identify the business benefits for Colombian exports to the Northern Triangle.
In the third part, we will prepare a financial analysis support for the financial viability of exportation for a typical company and be able to justify the execution of the project. It will be analyzed determinants aspects of the profitability of the project and firm characteristics (exist or its going to be established for the project), characteristics of the products to offer, potential distribution channels, pricing, investment and financing plan, etc.. Finally, the fourth part of the paper presents the conclusions and recommendations. This tool can be used by any agent interested in export from Colombia to the Northern Triangle, following financial feasibility criteria in an export project, assuming different scenarios by product, by country and tariff charges.
