Resumen
The main purpose of this research is to answer the question: What are the main factors
that determine the aid through international cooperation to Colombia from the United
States through its agency USAID? The main purpose here is to explain that these
factors are directly related to external aspects that are unaffiliated to the Colombian
government’s manipulation of those resources. These factors are seen as international
economic crisis, both actors´ foreign policies, the interests of the institutions that assign
the resources y and the prioritization process made by the United States when it comes
to international cooperation. Taking this into account, a more dynamic study will be
carried out of the variables that show when identifying the determinants of the increase
or decrease of international cooperation in Colombia. With the liberal perspective of
International Relations, this research’s results enable the identification and
corroboration of the factors that may determine the amount of aid through international
cooperation.
