RESUMEN: Se describe una nueva especie, Euryhaliotrema griseus (Monogenea: Dactylogyridae), hallada en branquias del “pargo dientón” Lutjanus griseus (Pisces: Lutjanidae), capturados en la Laguna de La Restinga, Isla de Margarita, Venezuela, prevalencia de 95,70%; intensidad de 3-70 e intensidad media de 28. Algunas de las características que permiten separar esta nueva especie de las otras especies del género son: morfología comparativa del complejo copulatorio, la forma y estructura de la vagina y del complejo anclas/barras. Es similar a E. atlantica y a E. carbunculus en la longitud y forma del órgano copulatorio, pero se diferencia de la primera por la ausencia de un proceso articulado a la base de la pieza accesoria y de un bulbo en la abertura vaginal, y de E. carbunculus por poseer un conducto vaginal comparativamente más corto y recto. ABSTRACT: This paper characterizes a new species, Euryhaliotrema griseus (Monogenea: Dactylogyridae), that dwells on the gills of the Gray snapper, Lutjanus griseus (Pisces: Lutjanidae) in La Restinga Lagoon, on Margarita Island, Venezuela, with an infestation prevalence of 95.70%, and a mean intensity of 28 parasites out of a range of 3 to 70. Among the features that set this new species apart from others of the same genus are the morphology of the copulatory apparatus and the shape and structure of both the vagina and the anchor-bar complex. E. griseus resembles both E. atlantica and E. carbunculus in the length and shape of the copulatory organ, but differs from the former in that it lacks both the articulated process at the base of the accessory piece and the protuberance bulb of the vaginal opening, and from the latter in that it has a comparatively shorter and straighter vaginal canal.
